SpaceX achieves 10,000 Starlink satellites on orbit simultaneously

Tuesday, 17 March 2026

On Tuesday March 17th, SpaceX launched the Starlink Group 17-24 mission in the early hours of the morning from SLC-4E in California. Onboard this mission were 25 Starlink satellites destined for a new home in a sun-synchronous orbit. With this launch, the total number of Starlink satellites on orbit has passed 10,000 for the first time. This was not, however, the 10,000 Starlink satellite as earlier satellites have since deorbited. Following launch, first stage booster B1088, which was making its 14th trip to space, landed successfully on vessel Of Course I Still Love You

B19 rolled to Pad 2 ahead of pre-launch testing

Sunday, 8 March 2026

Super Heavy B19 has rolled to Pad 2 at Starbase ahead of its pre-flight testing campaign. B19 is the first V3 Super Heavy to make it to this stage in testing after B18 failed a gas pressure test earlier in its testing campaign. The Booster currently only has a subset of 10 engines as opposed to the 33 it will need for flight. Booster 19 is expected to complete some static fire testing as well as aid in testing Pad 2 ahead of its first launch currently targeting early April

Cargo Dragon returns from ISS completing CRS-33 mission

Friday, 27 February 2026

Cargo Dragon C211.3 has returned from the International Space Station after a six month stay completing the CRS SpX-33 mission. The mission carried science and cargo to the orbiting laboratory last August and has remained on station since. Dragon splashed down in the Pacific Ocean overnight off the coast of San Diego, California. Dragon bought home with it a number of experiments for scientists to analyse

SpaceX break reuse record with 33rd launch and landing

Sunday, 22 February 2026

SpaceX have successfully completed the Starlink Group 6-104 mission from SLC-40, Florida lifting a batch of 29 Starlink V2 Mini optimised satellites into a low Earth orbit. The booster supporting this mission was fleet leader B1067 which was flying for a record-breaking 33rd time becoming the first booster to reach this milestone. Following stage separation, B1067 successfully touched down on the deck of A Shortfall Of Gravitas stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. Since its debut flight in June 2021, B1067 has achieved an average of 54 days and broken the reuse record 10 times now. Despite being the fleet leader, it is not the oldest booster in the fleet - that record is held by West Coast booster B1063 which first flew in November 2020 and is following behind B1067 having completed its 31st launch and landing yesterday

Crew-12 launch to space station as booster returns to new landing zone

Friday, 13 February 2026

SpaceX have successfully launched the SpX Crew-12 mission to the International Space Station on behalf of NASA. The four person crew comprising two NASA astronauts, one ESA astronaut, and one Roscosmos cosmonaut, launched aboard Falcon 9 booster B1101 from Space Launch Complex 40. This mission marked the second crewed launch from SLC-40 following the launch of Crew-9 in September 2024. Going forward, SpaceX intend to launch all commercial crew missions from SLC-40 as they shift focus at LC-39A to Falcon Heavy and Starship missions. The Dragon spacecraft supporting this mission, Crew Dragon Freedom (C212), was supporting its fifth trip to space. Following stage separation B1101, making its second flight on this mission, returned to Landing Zone 40 adjacent to the launch pad at SLC-40 becoming the first booster to land at this new recovery zone
