Information
Space Launch Complex 37 is a launch site located within the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida. The site began construction in the late 1950s with the ultimate goal of being used to support the Apollo program alongside SLC-34 however plans changed, and NASA opted to make use of Launch Complex 39 to the North. SLC-37 saw eight launches throughout the 1960s comprising six Saturn 1 launch vehicles and two Saturn 1B rockets. The launch site was deactivated in 1972 following the end of the Apollo program and sat dormant for three decades. In the late 1990s, Boeing entered talks with the US Air Force regarding leasing possibilities for SLC-37 to support launches of the Delta rocket family and an agreement was signed. SLC-37 returned to service in November 2002 with the first launch of the Delta IV and saw the maiden launch of the Delta IV Heavy two years later. The site continued to support Delta launches until the retirement of the Delta IV Heavy in 2024. Following this, SpaceX took over the launch pad for use by Starship. Two launch towers and two catch towers are planned for SLC-37 with the first flight expected no earlier than late 2026.
