Details:
During ascent, a fuel leak began in one of the booster's Merlin engines, however, because of the altitude of the rocket of the time, there was not enough oxygen present to sustain a fire. As the booster reentered the atmosphere, a fire developed in the engine bay of the booster. B1086 successfully landed on Just Read The Instructions however, 45 seconds after touchdown, the fire had spread to one of the landing legs causing a structural failure and subsequent collapse of the booster. While this event did not trigger an investiation by the FAA, SpaceX voluntarily paused launches while they investigated the root cause of the issue
