Details:
During the second stage's first burn, a liquid oxygen leak could be observed coming from the second stage fuel tanks. During a planned second burn of the Merlin Vacuum engine, the engine exploded however the remainder of the launch vehicle stayed in tact. All 20 Starlink satellites were deployed into a suboptimal orbit as a last resort however they deorbited and burned up in the atmosphere due to increased atmospheric drag in the lower deployment altitude. This launch ended a streak of 325 successful Falcon 9 missions - almost triple the streak of the second longest streak (held by Soyuz-U). Little information into the root cause of the failure was publicly announced by SpaceX, however the FAA required SpaceX to stand down from Falcon 9 missions until a root cause was determined. SpaceX returned to flight just 15 days later
