Starship Flight 8
Rocket: Starship
Launch Site: LP-1, Starbase, Texas
Payloads:
Satellite: Starlink V3 Mass Simulator
Quantity: 4
Destination: Transatmospheric
Customer: SpaceX
Mass: 8000 kg
Details:
S34 experienced an uncontrollable spin after losing attitude control as a result of engine failures attributed to a hardware failure on one of the centre Raptor sea level engines. Following this, the ship was observed to be breaking up and reentering the atmosphere over the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands, similarly to Flight 7 however SpaceX notes these issues were distinct. B15 was successfully caught despite losing two engines during the boostback burn, one of which successfully relit for the booster's landing burn
