Starship Flight 9
Rocket: Starship
Launch Site: LP-1, Starbase, Texas
Payloads:
Satellite: Starlink V3 Mass Simulator
Quantity: 8
Destination: Transatmospheric
Customer: SpaceX
Mass: 16000 kg
Details:
B14 became the first Super Heavy booster to refly. SpaceX opted not to catch B14 a second time and instead chose to push the booster to its limits bringing it back through a much steeper angle of attack to aid design improvements in future booster. Upon the begining of the landing burn, one of the Raptor engines was seen to shut down prematurely followed shortly after by the explosion of the booster. Ship 35 completed its asscent burn - a first for a Block 2 ship. During the coast phase, the ship began to spin as a result of a fuel leak. This caused a planned Raptor relight test to be aborted. Furthermore, an attempt to open the ship's payload bay door was unsuccessful. Telemetry from the ship was lost at ~T+46:00
